Lot Overview

貓以木製成,黃褐色,色澤沉穩,包漿溫潤,表面打磨光滑細緻。貓呈坐姿,右前足撐地,左前足抬起置於半空中,掌中肉球鮮明,指甲尖銳。臉龐圓潤,雙尖耳豎起,鼻樑挺直,鑲嵌貓眼石為眼,神采奕奕。嘴合攏,微露尖牙,短尾回繞搭附臀側。貓咪整體肌肉飽滿,動作靈活,雙眼炯炯有神,表情生動,是日本早期純熟木雕工藝的展。
日本人向來以「貓癡」聞名,不但定有「貓咪日」,還有多個「貓島」,對於貓有特殊情感。其淵源源自唐朝時期,當時日本派遣唐使前往中國學習,貓因而自中國流傳到日本。最初僅宮廷、貴族能養貓,是一種身分的象徵。直到江戶時代,貓才漸漸開始在平民百姓家中出現,然因早期所賦予的「貴族氣息」,已讓日本人對貓的喜愛建立深厚基礎,成為家家戶戶鍾愛的吉祥動物。
