In this special sale, 36 pieces of jade are selected, from the Yuan and Ming dynasties to the glorious Qianlong and Jiaqing periods, showing different categories of exquisite jade carving craftsmanship. There are good examples of Qianlong’s archaistic style, ornaments with practical uses, religious themes containing rich artistic value and spiritual sustenance and elegant scholar’s objects.
In particular the jade camel, once in the Barbara Hutton collection and from Christie’s Paris, with a full shape, accurate proportions, and distinct edges on the body showing the covered fur and the muscles undulating. Several other pieces were collected by Eugene O. Perkins (1926-2002), a famous American collector of Chinese art, whose collection caused a sensation at Christie's New York in 1989 and subsequently went into the hands of famous international dealers.
